About Kiwanis Club of Klang
The Kiwanis Club of Klang, established over 30 years ago, has distinguished itself as one of the leading service organizations in the Royal Town of Klang. Our legacy is built on a commitment to making a positive impact in our community through various service initiatives and programs.
Our Members
Our club is composed of 32 dedicated members who, despite their busy schedules, consistently go above and beyond to serve the community. Their passion and commitment drive the success of our numerous programs and initiatives.
Down Syndrome Foundation Centre
One of our proudest achievements is the establishment of the Down Syndrome Foundation Centre in Klang. Over the years, we have assisted hundreds of children with Down Syndrome, providing them with the support and resources they need to get a good start in life. Our center offers a nurturing environment where these children can thrive, learn, and develop essential skills.
Back to School Program
We believe every child deserves a chance to succeed, regardless of their financial situation. Our "Back to School Program" helps underprivileged children by providing them with new school bags, uniforms, and books. This initiative ensures that they are well-prepared and excited to start the new school year.
Youth Leadership Camp
Our annual Youth Leadership Camp, part of the Kiwanis Key Leader program, is a transformative experience for 80 children each year. This 3-day, 2-night camp teaches participants valuable lessons in good values and servant leadership. The camp fosters personal growth, teamwork, and community engagement, leaving a lasting impact on the young attendees.
Youth Development Programs
We are committed to nurturing the leaders of tomorrow through our comprehensive youth development programs. Our K-Kids (for primary school students) and Key Club (for secondary school students) programs provide young people with opportunities to manage projects and engage in community service. These programs teach students essential skills in leadership, organization, and teamwork.
Annual Movie Day
Thanks to our vision partner, MBO Cinemas, we host an annual movie day for 110 children. Along with other Kiwanis clubs across Malaysia, we bring joy to a total of 3,300 children nationwide by providing a fun-filled day at the movies. This event is a highlight of the year for many children, offering them a chance to relax and enjoy a special outing.
Children's Fund
Through our Children's Fund, we support children with serious medical problems, ensuring they receive the necessary medical care and assistance. This fund is vital in providing relief and support to families facing significant health challenges.
Annual Christmas Party
Our annual Christmas party at Klang General Hospital is a cherished tradition. Santa Claus distributes presents to all 90 children in the hospital, and LaLa the clown entertains the kids with fun activities and performances. This event brings festive cheer and smiles to children who need it the most.
Supporting Indigenous Communities
We are also committed to supporting the indigenous community. Every year, our club visits an Orang Asli community on Carey Island, bringing provisions, supplies, and other goodies. This annual program aims to improve the living conditions of the Orang Asli and show our support for their well-being.
